Multicultural Counseling Danene

The issue of homelessness is complex and broad, affecting too many of our communities and neighbors. There are individuals, senior people, children, or even families who are homeless and are forced to live in a vehicle, a homeless shelter, or simply in the streets. Unfortunately, homelessness is very dangerous, because there are many negative stereotypes and myths surrounding this issue that contribute to the stigmatization of this population (Understanding Homelessness, 2019). I understand that homelessness includes a variety of elements. Yet, I cannot help but wonder if there is a way to address this issue and create a society in which people will not have to struggle to access basic supports.

In general, Danene’s post provides a unique perspective on the matter in question. The fact that she attended three events to come into contact with homeless individuals and families gives her a first-hand experience of what the culture of homelessness is and demonstrates her deep interest in the topic. Her observations made from personal interactions with homeless individuals provide unique insight into the situation and show how deeply immersed she was in the culture she was studying. Moreover, I think that Danene’s emotional feedback on her encounter with the homeless and the fact that she shared her personal experience demonstrate how committed she is to research such a sensitive subject. Despite this, I think that Danene should have included in her post the information regarding the challenges that she had encountered while working with the homeless and what approaches she would take if not to solve homelessness, then at least alleviate the symptoms. Nevertheless, I understand that homelessness is a multifaceted concept that involves economic, political, and social elements and hope that Danene will elaborate on those matters in her next discussions.
